Self-identity

I had a hard time to do this project. From the beginning I told Jessamyn that I'll do about my life and work. I thought of the pictures I could take at work and what I wanted to do with them. But I was lost when I actually had the pictures and did not like how it put together. Then I went through period of taking a lot of pictures but I did not have a clear idea of how to put them together. I tried many ways, but I did not like them. This is my last minute inspiration that I put together. There will be faults in them, but I enjoy them. I guess that is also matter.

Multiple Source Image

This assignment is hard for me since I don't know about Photoshop that much. I read the book but it is hard when you actually try to follow, not always work like how it tells you.

Quality of Light

I was confused at first on the assignment so I took different pics in my room using different settings on the white balance. I could see what Jesse meant by different lightning giving different color for the pictures. I was always used the auto balance before so I did not know about white balance. I went to the UC Berkeley botanical garden, took some pictures and my 1G CF card ran out of memory since I took both in RAW and JPEG. I had a chance to enjoy the garden though. I tried a little bit on different weathers and light conditions such as cloudy day at Pleasant Hill Vista Point and, a bright sunny day at DVC that I labeled it wrong with Emeryville pics, sunset at Emeryville marina. I like the garden picture for its greenery and peaceful image. And I chose the picture of the sun still up instead of down in the horizon may be because I did not want the day to end. I might not do exactly what the assignment asked for since I am still confused a little bit, but I had fun with it and learned a lot from it.

Lipkin Roll

I got to work a little early yesterday (yeah, no traffic). So I stopped by this Albany Waterfront Trail & took some pictures from there. This was the first time I've been here even though it's less than 2 miles from work in Berkeley and I am working there for at least five years now. Most people I saw there were walking with their dogs or just enjoying the view of San Francisco, the cities around there like Berkeley, Albany, Richmond, Emeryville... It felt quiet and peaceful place to go. I confess I did not walk far from the trail to know more of the area. I had to get to work also.

Self Portrait

This is my first learning and figuring out how to use the SLR camera assignment. I usually don't like taking picture of myself so I have my little nephew, Christopher as my model in many pictures. He lives with me since birth until now so practically, he's my spoiled brat. Those pictures show a little bit about my life, such as home, work, my favorite place, hobbies. As you can see, there is no creativity in me. I see things as they are and I appreciate the natural beauty of them. I don't really know what I suppose to write in a blog, please let me know what I can improve next time in writing and the assignment itself. Thanks :-)

Something about myself

This is the first time I write a blog, so please bear with me until I get use to it. I consider myself as a point and shoot photographer, just take the pictures hope for the best and don't know why some pictures are so lousy. Naturally, I blame that to the camera instead. I did not own a SLR camera until I bought a Canon Rebel XT for this class. So a lot to figure out how to use it. This class intimidated me at first. It seems like many students are professional at this. I have to start learning somewhere somehow, and I think this class will be great, friendly classmates and nice and helpful teacher and TA. Personally, I like to take nature, flower pictures, people, anything that is real because creativity is not in my gene. I hope by the end of the class, I'll be able to take better pictures and have fun along the way.
