I was confused at first on the assignment so I took different pics in my room using different settings on the white balance. I could see what Jesse meant by different lightning giving different color for the pictures. I was always used the auto balance before so I did not know about white balance. I went to the UC Berkeley botanical garden, took some pictures and my 1G CF card ran out of memory since I took both in RAW and JPEG. I had a chance to enjoy the garden though. I tried a little bit on different weathers and light conditions such as cloudy day at Pleasant Hill Vista Point and, a bright sunny day at DVC that I labeled it wrong with Emeryville pics, sunset at Emeryville marina. I like the garden picture for its greenery and peaceful image. And I chose the picture of the sun still up instead of down in the horizon may be because I did not want the day to end. I might not do exactly what the assignment asked for since I am still confused a little bit, but I had fun with it and learned a lot from it.

Yeah, it's true that a gig card is not that much for shooting RAW. Maybe get another gig or two even. Your sunset photo is a perfect example of how quality of light can be the subject of an image. I know this has already been mentioned but I wish the horizon was straight, though!
